Focus and Scope

The Bifröst Journal of Social Science is a forum for academic articles in the various branches of the social sciences, including business studies, law, political science, economics, and other areas. The journal serves the Icelandic scholarly community and most articles are about Iceland or by Icelandic authors.

Articles in the journal are of two types. Reviewed articles and research notes are subject to the research community's traditional requirement for independent peer review. Working papers, policy articles, and reviews are not subject to the same standards, and working papers often represent preliminary versions of articles. The journal publishes articles both in Icelandic and in other languages. Articles are first published electronically, and are then printed in a single volume at the end of each calendar year.

Tímarit um félagsvísindi er vettvangur fyrir fræðilegar greinar um ýmis svið félagsvísinda á borð við viðskiptafræði, lögfræði, stjórnmálafræði, hagfræði og önnur fræðasvið. Tímaritið þjónar íslensku fræðasamfélagi og flestar greinar þess eru um Ísland eða skrifaðar af íslenskum höfundum.

Greinar í tímaritinu eru tvenns konar. Annars vegar er um að ræða ritrýndar greinar og flugur (research notes) sem lúta hefðbundnum kröfum vísindasamfélagsins um óháða ritrýningu og hins vegar eru vinnugreinar (working papers), stefnugreinar og umsagnir þar sem ekki eru gerðar sömu kröfur um efni og efnistök og í ritrýndum greinum. Í Tímariti um félagsvísindi eru birtar greinar á íslensku og eftir atvikum öðrum tungumálum. Greinarnar eru fyrst birtar á vef Háskólans á Bifröst, www.bifrost.is, en eru síðan prentaðar og gefnar út í lok hvers árs.

Peer Review Process

Articles and research notes are typically read by two reviewers using a double-blind method. Reviewers are asked to complete their reviews within four weeks of accepting the review.

Greinar og flugur í ritinu eru venjulega lesnar af tveimur ritrýnendum. Farið er fram á að þeir ljúki umfjöllun um greinarnar innan fjögurra vikna.

 

Open Access Policy

Bifröst Journal of Social Science / Tímarit um félagsvísindi provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
